I have recently had lens replacement surgery at the Optegra hospital in Birmingham. My first operation was two weeks ago with the second just one week later. My reason for this procedure was that I had been juggling four pairs of glasses and was still struggling with reading small print and finding craft work increasingly difficult. I can honestly say that my experience so far has been absolutely brilliant. Just the day after the second op I was reading the newspaper and two days later was machine sewing and quilting ....... without glasses for the first time in over25 years. The finest of bead work is no problem whatsoever. I can recommend Mark Wevill without any hesitation. From the initial consultation he was completely honest and professional as well as being very reassuring. No false promises were made and there was no pressure to go ahead if I chose not to proceed. On the day of the surgery the whole team at Optegra Birmingham could not have been more helpful and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. Everything was very straightforward and I was given full instructions for aftercare. On the evening of the first operation it was very reassuring to have a phone call from Mark to make sure that I was ok. and to let me know that I could contact him at any time should I have a problem. For someone living alone this meant a great deal. This has made a huge difference to my life and I am just so grateful.

I decided to have lens replacement because glasses were becoming a nuisance at work. It was the best decision I made Mark was so helpful and explained every thing. The surgery was completely painless and only took 10 minutes on each eye and the after care was first class, they wouldn't discharge me until I was happy with the results. Mark is a really nice guy and anyone thinking of eye surgery couldn't be in safer hands. And his team are absolutely brilliant, they really look after you all through the procedure. I had lens replacement after wearing full time varifocal glasses. My proceedure was left then right eye operated on at a one week interval. All the staff were first class. Mark explains things as simply or as technically as you like, this is very reassuring . The operations were ( I know people won't believe this but it's true ) PAINLESS to the point of them being a non event in my case both eyes only taking 10 -12 minutes each. Benefits I have noticed. My eyesight is now as good as it ever was. It has already made me more active and I feel more confident ie I now climb stairs without holding the hand rail and driving is so much easier. Today for the first time in 10 years I put a pen behind my ear and have not lost it all day! I can read all small print easily and quickly. I could go on but it really is as good as new eyesight without any fuss in a very short time. Thank you Mark and all your super team.

Following on from a replacement lens 17 months ago, I had the lens "polished" yesterday, which was a very quick laser treatment carried out by Mr Wevill. I was told at the outset this might be necessary if there was a slight blurring on the lens. This did happen and the procedure yesterday was sorted within minutes. I always have confidence in Mr Wevill and would recommend him to anyone considering replacement lens surgery etc

From the first consultation to my final discharge my care was outstanding. Mark fully discussed all the options available and helped me decide which surgery would suit me best. Everyone involved on the day of my surgery was professional, supportive, fully explaining each step. The operation its self was completely pain free, anesthetic drops were continually administed and a member of Mark's team reassured me as to what was happening. Ten minutes later I was able to walk out of the theatre, my vision what can only be described as amazing. My medication was fully discussed and my follow up appointments arranged. Three months later my final discharge, I can not find enough words to express how delighted I am with the results and continue to be thrilled as my vision has got better and better. Mark's care and that of every member of his team was fabulous and I wish I had done it years ago. I would not hesitate in recommending Mark . Thank you so much you have transformed my life.
